8 to 13 Positive Activities
The YCA is lead body for a number of contracts to deliver Positive Activities for 8-13 year olds, funded by Sheffield City Council Kids can do fund. The YCA has ensured that Positive Activities for 8-13 year olds provision is responsive to need; and in developing mentoring and a co-ordinated response to the threat of gang violence.
The young people’s activities has involved hundreds of young people, around 900 throughout the year, in positive diversionary activity.
In order to deliver these activities the YCA works with Reach high 2, Somali Education breakthrough, ITCSSS, Sadacca, Community North Forum, Brushes Busy Kids Club, Christ Church Youth group, Ellesmere Youth Project, Stubbin Neighbourhood Association, Shirgreen Children and Families Project and Shiregreen United Reformed Church.
Other activities are funded by BBC Children in Need, Sheffield PCT, Youth Crime Prevention team and the Youth Opportunities Fund.
